“Veritas”, an album title heavy with meaning: The Truth, nothing but the truth – that's what InVertigo seem to be interested in this time. Smells like a concept album, doesn't it?. „'Veri-tas' is not a concept album in the usual meaning“, says singer Sebastian Brennert. „At least we do not tell a continuous story. However, all the songs are about the topic of truth and deception, illusion and reality. Romantically transfigured childhood memories, dreams, delu-sions, schizophrenia. All these themes run through the songs like a thread. Which we find is very attractive, because we managed to make it so musically diverse.“
The CD comes in a fancy Double Pak Folder.

Prologue
Mayflies have attracted the attention of man for a long time. Those tiny little insects which emerge from lakes or streams lead a life which is best known for its notorious shortness. Some people might wonder what it must be like, being a mayfly. Well, let us take a closer look. These are the memories of a mayfly.
Chapter I: NAIAD (Overture)
After having spent a rather boring childhood at the bottom of its wet habitat, the nymph leaves the water for good. It breaks its nymphal skin and, now being neither child nor adult, waits on its wings to dry. At that point, it has some time to reflect the situation in which it finds itself.
Chapter II: SUB-IMAGO (Alone in the light of dawn)
All that I see Is a strange blur of light All that I hear is a mixture of undefined sounds Spat out of the water, waiting for my wings to dry No one is there who will lead me safely back to the ground
What am I gonna do all alone What am I gonna do on my own Alone in the light of dawn Alone in the light of dawn
Don’t waste no time, life’s short, that’s what I’ve heard There is no time for hanging around in the sun Don’t hesitate for the end is already near Better get ready for the ultimate run
What am I gonna do all alone? What am I gonna do on my own? Alone in the light of dawn Alone in the light of dawn
Chapter III: ALIVE (pt 1)
(Instrumental)
Chapter IV: SPREAD YOUR WINGS
While resting there by the side of the lake, thinking about thinking, our mayfly hardly notices that its wings have finally dried. At first, it doesn’t quite seem to know what to do with them, but something, or rather someone, like a distant voice from ancient times seems to be giving instructions.
My life has just begun, don't know what to do I can see the sun but I can’t reach it Someone said Spread your wings and fly There’s so much to explore, a world filled with adventures I want to see it all, want to be a part of it I reach out for the sky I spread my wings and fly
Chapter V: METAMORPHOSIS
There is something happening. Exhausted from its first flight, our mayfly rests on the lakeside again. There it undergoes a strange but fascinating experience. Its skin is being shed once more, and its rather dull former appearance has been replaced by an attractive, shiny new one. It has now become a true adult. One of the male kind, one might add.
Chapter VI: IMAGO (Alive pt 2)
Here I go, take a look at me now Ready to take over the world The power of youth is rushing through my veins I’ll never ever follow the herd
The miracles of life are all lined up in front of me
The warming sun, the gentle breeze Caress my skin and I’m feeling fine All of the flowers and all of the trees They’re all just made for me, they’re all mine
The miracles of life are all lined up in front of me
Gonna do whatever I wanna do yes I’m alive Gonna go wherever I wanna go for I, I’m alive
Here I am feeling free like a bird Nothing‘s gonna stop me now Yes, I can do what ever I want And I will turn the world upside down
The miracles of life are all lined up in front of me
Gonna do whatever I wanna do yes I’m alive Gonna go wherever I wanna go for I, I’m alive
Gonna do whatever I wanna do yes I’m alive Gonna go wherever I wanna go for I, I’m alive
Chapter VII: REPRODUCTION
The adult mayfly has just experienced a state of extraordinary vitality. Unfortunately, this is about to end as suddenly as it began: An adult mayfly is not able to feed anymore. This can only mean one thing: Death is already waiting around the next bend. Well, time to do something useful.
I don’t know much but there’s a feeling deep inside Something that’s itching like hell Like a strange voice talking to me telling me how to behave It seems as If I’m under some spell
A wise man whose name I forgot once said Survival is up to the fittest, don’t you agree So better hurry and do what you are told Tomorrow’s gonna be too late as you’ll see
REPRODUCTION! Is all that matters to me now REPRODUCTION! Gotta reproduce myself somehow
It’s tearing me apart Why, oh why must life be that cruel It’s making me crazy, it’s driving me mad But there is one thing left that I’ve got to do
REPRODUCTION! Is all that matters to me now REPRODUCTION! Gotta reproduce myself somehow
But how?
Chapter VIII: SEDUCTION
All of a sudden, our mayfly is surrounded by a swarm of fellow-sufferers. In no time, a second swarm appears. It consists of mayflies of the opposite sex. One of them rapidly approaches our hero.
Come to me I know just what you want Let yourself go and we’ll become one Don’t have no fear, trust in me and you’ll see It won’t hurt at all
Come to me and forget about your pain You ought to know that I suffer the same We’re made for each other let’s waste no time There’ll be no wake-up call
Chapter IX: MATING MUSIC (Instrumental)
Chapter X: SPENT
And as I’m back in the water once again And I’m drifting and I can’t move at all And It feels I’m approaching the end I'm feeling totally spent
Chapter XI: Alone in the light of dawn (Reprise)
Where have you gone, my love? You've left me alone
Alone in the light of dawn Alone in the light of dawn
Chapter XII (Finale): Spread your wings (Reprise)
I won’t get to know you, my sons and daughters This must be what the call the circle of life Though I lay down and die I know one day you will Spread your wings and fly
InVertigo - this means a blend of art rock and fine neo-prog, situated somewhere between complexity and catchiness, epic
structures and radio affinity, 11/8 and 4/4. InVertigo's songs mirror influences by progressive rock bands such as Genesis, Yes, Spock's Beard or Porcupine Tree - but do sound completely different....more

I am not new to Galahad but have lost touch with them after Beyond The Realms of Euphoria album, which still is my favorite release. But this release is just as good if not better. Galahad is one of the top prog acts around. A pleasure to add this to my musical collection. lloydd

I received this as a surprise present by the band for pre-ordering the upcoming album, so thanks a lot to you, too :-))
As could be expected by Pat Sanders & Co, highly melodic prog that should, for instance, appeal too friends of Fish-era Marillion (although Uncle Fish would never have reached those high notes ;-) ) and some instrumentals (from beautiful miniatures like Bubbles to the more epic Last Supper). Among many other fine things offered here, I especially love Pat's piano playing! Carsten Pieper
